Why is it taking so long to get to the end of term. I'm not wishing my life away, but about this time of the year at The BristolOld Vic Theatre School my mind is turning to Summer jobs, time off, getting work done when all the students are away, that kind of thing.

Ah well, soon enough they will be off and I can settle down to tidying up my office, straightening out my life in general and prepping for the Summer shoot of "The Sacrament".

But oh man... I read something today which really made me angry. The CAPS or Computer Animation Production System that Disney used for all its movies, from "The Little Mermaid" through "Beauty and the Beast", "Mulan" and "Tarzan" has been scrapped. This from Wikipedia:

"In 2004, Disney Feature Animation management decided that audiences wanted only 3D computer animated features and closed down their traditional 2D animation department. CAPS was dismantled and the custom designed equipment was scrapped. As of 2005, only one desk system remains, in order to read the data for the films that were made with this ground breaking system."

Whaat?!? They decided audiences wanted 3D movies? Did they ask anyone? No more traditional 2D animation from Disney? Mother of God. I may have to have a lie down. Why wasn't there a huge crack in the sky, a storm, dogs and cats raining down from the heavens?

It's a sick twisted planet that could allow something like this to happen. Call the cops. It's a crime against human culture! Get me the UN on the phone. We need to send in the troops before its too late...
